Our story & the centre

People first, then the method.

Art of Mind began with a simple idea that still shapes everything we do: you should be met with warmth as well as professional seriousness.

Matina Ladikou founded the centre in Patras, in the west of Greece, in 2019. Over time it has grown to work mainly online, with clients across Greece and abroad, and this English section exists so that people who prefer to talk in English can work with a therapist from our team in the same spirit.

In a session you can talk, pause or say that something is difficult. You don’t need to explain everything at once. Your therapist helps with questions and talks with you about what you are working on and why, with clear boundaries and respect for your pace.

Our team

A centre, not a single practice.

Our therapists work in English and Greek, so that each person can be matched with the therapist who suits their needs and language.

Matched with care

English-language sessions are held with a therapist from our team. When you enquire, we tell you who you would be working with and answer any questions about their training and approach, so that you can make an informed choice.

Integrative, evidence-informed

Our therapists draw on established psychological approaches and adapt them to the person, using cognitive-behavioural techniques where they help. They pay close attention to the working relationship, which research consistently links with better outcomes, online as well as in person (Flückiger et al., 2018).

Who we work with

Adults, couples and teenagers from the age of 12. For teenagers, a parent or guardian contacts us first. When someone also needs medical care, we work alongside doctors and psychiatrists with the client’s agreement. See our services.

Our titles, explained honestly

In Greece, “psychologist” is a licensed title under Law 991/1979. Our team are psychotherapists and counsellors, and we use those words accurately. Our guide to mental health services in Greece explains the titles in more detail.

If you need urgent help. Therapy is not an emergency service. In an emergency call 112. In Greece you can also call 1018 (suicide prevention) or 10306 (mental-health support). For helplines in your country, see findahelpline.com.

How Matina works

Three approaches, one plan for you.

Matina combines these approaches to suit each person’s needs and goals. Nobody needs to choose a method before the first assessment.

Biothymic Psychotherapy & Clinical Hypnosis

Holistic work with body, emotion, thought and relationships, with clinical hypnosis as part of the same method.

Integrative Counselling

Structured support with practical tools for everyday life, relationships and decisions.

NLP Coaching

Practical techniques for beliefs, patterns and goals, also useful together with hypnosis for specific phobias.

Every technique is discussed with you first. There is no single outcome or fixed number of sessions for everyone. Sessions in Greek with Matina

How our work together begins

Our first meeting.

In 45 minutes we begin to understand what brings you and shape an initial plan.

  1. History and needs.

Your therapist listens and asks what brings you to therapy, what came before and how it affects you today.

  2. Assessment and priorities.

Together you explore your difficulties and goals, without assuming that every difficulty is a disorder.

  3. An initial plan.

You agree what you will work on, with which approach and within what framework.

  4. An ongoing conversation.

You review progress and talk about whatever is difficult, even within the therapeutic relationship itself.
